2027 Ambassador team

COMMUNITY. PASSION. INSPIRATION.

Our Ambassador Team is comprised of individuals with diverse backgrounds, ages, ability levels and experience. They embody Vancouver Sun Run’s energy, spirit and aligned with our passion to inspire the community to move, stay active while having a lot fun.

Andrea Brooks

I challenged myself to start running regularly in 2025, shortly after the birth of my third baby. Since then, I’ve raced in several 5Ks, two half marathons, and ten 10Ks (with the Sun Run being the biggest and brightest of them all)! Running has become a form of meditation for me, and allows me to feel grounded and centered as I navigate life in the film industry while raising three little kids.

Daniel simpson

A passionate runner, race director, and community builder, Daniel is the Founder of Kamino Running Co., a growing running community that brings people together across Metro Vancouver. You can usually find him running around the city and drinking way too much coffee.
Through weekly run clubs and memorable race experiences – he loves building runners and building community.

Ella Barrett-Chan

Ella is a Vancouver-based OB/GYN resident, runner, and founder of Uter-RACE, a women’s health–focused run club. She loves bringing people together through movement, making running feel welcoming and fun, and exploring Vancouver one run at a time. When she’s not at the hospital, you’ll usually find her training for her next race, running with friends, or encouraging someone else to lace up.

Fabiana Baquero

Running, for me, is so much more than just exercise. It is healing. It is freedom. It is discipline. Every time I lace up my shoes, I’m reminded of how strong I really am and how much I can push through when things get hard.
Running is a space where I can let go of comparison, focus on my own journey, and truly honor how far I’ve come.
I’m so excited to share this part of my life with you. My running journey means so much to me, and I hope it inspires you to find your own version of strength, peace, and joy.
See you all on Sunday, April 18, 2027!

Iknoor Atwal

From 5K loops around my apartment during COVID years to a a full marathon this year, running has taught me consistency, and given me confidence, and joy. Vancouver Sun Run holds a special place in my heart because it welcomes beginners, and showcases the energy of an incredible running community.

Jesse Junsay

I started running for the fitness, but stayed for the community, race-day energy, and questionable decisions to sign up for another race. I love the Sun Run because it brings Vancouver together for a fun, sweaty, slightly chaotic morning of running and good vibes!

Maddie John

Running has become so much more than exercise for me. It’s where I’ve found community, made amazing friendships, challenged myself and genuinely learned to love moving my body. I love the Sun Run because it brings people together and celebrates everything I love about running: connection, community, good energy and having so much fun along the way.

Sorcha Mulqueen Kelly

I started running just 18 months ago, and this year I’ll be running my first marathon — something I never imagined when I started, and I hope my journey shows others that it really is possible. The Sun Run will always have a special place in my heart as my first ever race; the atmosphere, energy, thousands of people lining the streets and the feeling of running through Vancouver make it such a special experience, and I think it’s the perfect place to start your own running journey.

Valeria Hernandez

I’ve been an active person my whole life but I started really running 3 years ago when I wanted to prove myself I could run a half marathon before turning 30. Which I did! Since then, I haven’t stopped racking up kilometers and sharing my passion for this sport, with Sun Run being the race where the most people have joined me to run and making it an amazing and unique experience.

Jake Ball

From Park Runs to ultras, and from the road to the trails, every run and race has played a huge role in my running journey. I love the challenge of chasing new goals, helping others achieve theirs, and being part of everything that makes the Vancouver running community so special.
Most recently, I completed my first 50K ultra and two World Marathon Majors, and I’m now working toward a sub-2:50 marathon in Valencia this fall.
No matter your pace, distance, or goal, I can’t wait to meet more runners, share the journey, and cheer you on along the way. See you out there!
